One of the travel classics and something we wanted to do for a long, long time: travel overland from Cairo to Istanbul… perhaps the two most enthralling megalopolises in the Islamic world. And even after having spent a considerable amount of time in both cities we are still not sure which of the two is more fascinating: both shower the visitor with such a wealth of history, monuments, impressions, smells, sounds… But between Cairo and Istanbul there are of course some other great sites - the Sinai peninsula, Wadi Rum, Petra, Palmyra, Cappadocia, Ephesus… to name but a few. Yes, it was a wonderful journey. We sent quite a few emails during the trip but we have no photos to show though, as we deliberately wanted to see how it feels to travel for such a long time and take not a single photo.

One highlight of the trip was the region of Cappadocia in Turkey and our first visit in 2005 was followed by many more over the years. This panorama was taken during our Turkey 2015 trip.
