Street Processions

When travelling through southern India, you are bound at some point to come across a festival or a procession. If you hear band music being played, just follow the sound and you'll most probably end up following a procession of some kind.
- This is how we happened to spend a very nice evening in Mysore, where the deity from a local temple was being paraded through its neighbourhood, a great occasion for dance and music, which we enjoyed very much.
- In Madurai, no need to follow the tune: there is a procession every evening to carry a statue of Sundareswarar from his shrine to the abode of Meenakshi, so that he can sleep by her side… In the morning, Sundareswarar is brought back to his home in the same way.
