Nepal 2016

And it's Nepal again!

We trekked the Manaslu and Annapurna circuits and paid a short visit to the Everest foothills to top it all...

Post 2015 earthquake, our first time during the monsoon season, we have a lot to share and reflect upon.

Salleri Saturday Market

(vero;2016-August-16)

We ended our short trek in the Solukhumbu Foothills in Phaplu and were just in time for the Saturday market in Salleri.

Women in front of a lingerie stall with bras hanging at the back of the tent. You can see the summits of Numbur and Khatang in the background.
Here you'll find nearly everything, from toothbrushes and toothpaste to sweets, noodle soups, incense sticks, biscuits, exercise books, washing powder, oil… Can you spot the batteries? Shoppers between copper pots and a stall selling garments. The copper pots seller. Ginger, garlic, onions and tomatoes are key ingredients for Nepalese cooking. Many stalls sell pretty much the same thing. Here again garlic and ginger but much less customers as at the stall before. Note the shoppers with their rucksack to bring the goods back home. Waiting for customers. On the left, apples from Kashmir. What looks like “weeds” near the man are in fact indoor brooms made with Tiger Grass (Thysanolaena Maxima) grown in Nepal. The lady has just bought a bag full of chilies.
