It is worth checking our overview of sites visited in the South East during our English Heritage Year in 2022, many of which are to be found in Kent: Darwin's House, the Roman villa of Lullingstone, the coastal castles of Walmer and Deal just to name a few (images 4 to 10 and 21 to 27).

The church of Fairfield in the Romney Marshes.

• One of the major attractions is Dover Castle which we enjoyed so much that we visited twice.
• Portchester and its castle were also very interesting
• While Bayham Old Abbey gave us a feeling of end of the world
• The picturesque churches of the Romney Marsh

Go back to South East England, go on to Dover Castle or go up to England
