South East England
(vero;2024-July-25)
South East England includes the counties of Berkshire, Hampshire, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight.
It is also our home region (we live in Hampshire) and the one we often travel through on our way to the continent.
- See a motley of sites visited in the region during our English Heritage Year in 2022 or
- Explore by county for more:
- Hampshire: our home county with Winchester, the coastal Portchester Castle, some great stately homes such as Hinton Ampner and nice rural landscapes.
- Isle of Wight: home to the famous Needles and with Osborne House as a definitive highlight
- Berkshire: with Windsor Castle, one of the favourite destinations for a day-trip when we have visitors
- Oxfordshire: much more than Oxford and Blenheim Palace (but that's all we have visited so far!)
- Surrey: only one site to account for, the estate of Polesden Lacey
- Kent: Dover Castle, Rochester Castle, Canterbury and much more
- East and West Sussex: with the site of the 1066 Battle Field of Hastings and the impressive Petworth House.
